The 1980's MTV generation was the first ADD generation and film makers responded. They made movies that were more simplistic, faster paced and action packed. To make sure even a kid could understand it, they went over the top with characters and created some of the greatest assholes that we have ever seen in the movies.

Johnny Lawerence is getting a bad rap here. Go watch that movie again. Danny thows the first (sucker) punch on the beach, then sucker punches one of Johnny's friends, then soaks Johnny with a hose at a dance. I would have kicked Danny's ass too. Johnny was the hero of that movie. Really go watch that movie agian, I'll wait.

Maxim came out with a list like this a few years ago... the biggest douchebags in movie history. Niedermeyer came out #1. Chet from Weird Science was #10. I interviewed Bill Paxton for "The Greatest Game Ever Played" (he directed it) and I mentioned to him that Chet was ranked #10 on that list. He asked "Who was #1?" I told him it was Niedermeyer. He laughed and admitted to me that he designed Chet's personality as a cross between Seargent Carter and Niedermayer. BTW, Bill Paxton is an incredibly nice guy.
