Best Beer World Records

Every guy drinks beer, but not every guy can do so in record fashion. For those of you out there who think "I'm a world class beer drinker", chances are the guys on this list would think of you as one big pussy when it comes to beer drinking. Yes, that means you the frat guy with the white torn hat and Greek letter sweatshirt who can "totally drink a case with 2 other guys in less than minutes". Here are the best beer world records...

Drinking Fastest 3 Pints

The world record for drinking the fastest 3 imperial pints of a liquid was set by Barry Wilson of Stroud, United Kingdom, in December, 2002, when he consumed 3 pints of beer in 31 seconds.

Largest Volume of Beer Consumed

The USA holds the record for the greatest volume of beer consumed, measured at 6,439,000 gallons, with an average consumption of 23.5 gallons per person. God Bless America!

Largest Per Capita Beer Consumption

The Czech Republic is listed as having a beer consumption of approximately 35 gallons of beer per person, almost twice that of the USA.

Most Beers Drank in 5 Minutes

Eric Lean of Crowley, United Kingdom hold the Guinness World Record for drinking 7.75 imperial pints of beer in 5 minutes. The record was set in January, 2003. For all of us Americans, that equals 12 cans of beer. Seems like a breakable record actually.

Fastest Beer Mile

Jim Finlayson of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada holds the record time of 5 minutes, 09 seconds, set on 08 December, 2007 for completing the fastest Beer Mile. Competitors must consume a 355 ml can of beer before running each lap, for a total of 4 laps, or 400 meters. The fastest time wins. A penalty lap must be run if the competitor vomits before completing the 4-lap requirement.

Drinking the Fastest Liter of Beer

On June 22, 1977, Steven Petrosino broke the World Record for drinking 1 liter of beer in 1.3 seconds at the Gingerbreadman in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, USA. The previous record was held by Peter Dowdeswell of the United Kingdom, who drank 1 liter in 2.3 seconds.

Largest Beer Bottle Collection

Ron Werner of the USA was bestowed a certificate in 2002 for his collection of 11,644 different beer bottles accumulated since 1982, including 7,128 that remain unopened. Among this collection are 1,704 brands. He has sampled almost every one of these brands.

Largest Beer Selection in a Bar

In 2002, Dave Alexander of the Brickskeller, Washington, DC, received a Guinness World Record certificate for having the largest selection of beer in the world, a total of 1,072 different beers.

Most Beer in One Sitting

Since the Guinness Book of World Records no longer tracks drinking records, we're not positive this is the record. But Andre the Giant drank 119 beers (standard 12-ounce) in a 6 hour stretch. For those keeping track, that's one every 3 minutes. Afterwards he passed out in a hotel hallway and for some reason no one could move the big man.

i will agree that 119 beers in six hours is good but i have a friend that drank 56 beers in just over 2 hours and he only weighs 152 pounds. SO suck on that ANDRE

56 FULL beers? I'd suspect that he spilled the last 30 all over the place.

I did the century club a few times where you drink a shot of beer every minute for 100 minutes...that was rough.

I can beat the fastest drinking of 3 pints easy! I need someone to witness this so I Can get my name in a book! Any challengers????

We have been tryin to break that 3 pint record for over a year, the best has been around 45 sec. It's a lot harder than it sounds, and it needs to be a real full bodied bear, no coors/bud lite bullshit.

oops, I mean beer, not bear.. I guess I AM a drunk

I'm a doctor and all of you must be trying to compensate for something down below because it is anatomically impossible to consume 56 beers at only 156 pounds. That would be the equivalent of eating 17 pounds of food in that same time.

The 3 imperial pint (60oz) record seems like the most feasible record to break. Keep in mind, an imperial pint is 20oz as opposed to the 16oz US pint. I have yet to attempt chugging 5 12oz bottles of beer (i like to sit and enjoy my full-bodied beers), the most i have done is 36oz of IPA in 3 separate glasses and my time is around 11 seconds (pathetic in comparison to the 1.3 second liter). About 2-3 seconds could be shaved off that if they were all in one glass. However, i would imagine doing 5 in 31 seconds would be difficult to beat even if they were all in 1 glass. 1 beer is a lot different then 3 so i would imagine 3 would be a lot different then 5.
