10 Best Pound for Pound MMA Fighters Right Now
By: flancrest1994 Created:3-13-2009 List Contest: March

Ok, there has been a lot of fighting on the other list, so here's the new one. If you disagree then i dont know what to say.

Shinya Aoki

Aoki is one of the most dominant 155 pounders in Japan. He has amazing submissions and has compiled an impressive 20-3 record. Now he wants Penn to see who the best is at 155.

Frank Mir

Frank Mir was one of the fastest up and coming guys in the UFC until an injury stopped him. He held the title until that accident, and now he holds the interim title in the UFC. He is one of the best heavyweight submission artists to enter the cage.

Rashad Evans

"Sugar" is undefeated and was the star of The Ultimate Fighter 2. He has beaten guys like Forrest Griffin and Chuck Liddell. Pretty beast.

Quinton Jackson

"Rampage" is one of the scariest guys in the UFC. Walkin in howling and with chains on his neck scares the living shit out of me.. wouldnt want to fight him. He's the former title holder and is getting another shot at it.

BJ Penn

"The Prodigy" is one of the most versatile fighters in MMA. He has outstanding submissions, striking, and conditioning. He was almost the first fighter to hold two UFC titles at once, but St. Pierre stopped him.

Miguel Torres

Torres is one of the smallest fighters in the MMA world, but he's really fast and holds the bantamweight championship in the WEC. He's defeated guys like Chace Bebe and Urijah Faber.

Lyoto Machida

"The Dragon" has thrown the fewest strikes in the UFC in his first 5 fights, and is still undefeated. Most of his fights go to decision, but when they don't they're exciting.

Anderson Silva

"The Spider" is undefeated in the UFC and has an overall 28-4 record. He has a Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai.

Georges St. Pierre

"Rush" is Ranked number 1 in the world in the welterweight division. He's Pretty much the best wrestler in the UFC and didnt even take a wrestling class or anything.

Fedor Emelianenko

Pretty much the toughest guy to beat in MMA today. Get caught in a fight with him and your screwed. Hope he joins the UFC one day.

The List is backwards... Number 10 is really number 1..

This list is not bad. I don't agree Georges St. Pierre being above Fedor. I think Fedor and Anderson Silva may be tied in first place. Georges St. Pierre have only fought non hall of famers. And when he did, he fought hall of famers who are past their prime or are 20 pounds lighter than him. He doesn't like to move to different weight classes because he scared to face someone bigger than him and get beaten.

awesome list! Fedor should be # 1 but at least you got the rest in order correctly. Putting Shinya Aoki and Miguel Torres, who are extremely underrated just makes the author very fair and neutral.

if you can vote, start voting for shinya aoki.. any real mma analyst knows that aoki is probably the 3rd or 4th best in the world right now

Shinya Aoki is definitely awesome. I'd say he is the no.5 best pound for pound behind Fedor, Anderson Silva, GSP, and BJ Penn. After Aoki, you got Lyoto Machida, Miguel Torres, Rashad Evans, and Quinton Rampage Jackson.
