An ace is every golfers dream, but few will ever be so lucky. Here is some of the more interesting trivia on the subject.

Oldest Golfer to Get an Ace

Elsie McLean was 102 years old when she aced 100-yard 4th hole on April 5th, 2007. The previous record was set by Harold Stilson from Boco Raton, Florida who was 101 years old.

The Legally Blind Can Get Them

Leo Fiyalko is 92 and legally blind. It just took a 5 iron for the 110 yard hole. He got his first hole in one in his 60 year career and couldn't even see it.

Margaret Waldron, a 74 year old legally blind lady scored a hole-in-one in 1990, then did the same thing the next day using the same ball!

Youngest Golfer to Get an Ace

Jake Paine was just 3 years old when he put the 65 yarder in the cup. Tiger couldn't even do that.

Has there ever been a "Condor"

Getting a hole-in-one on a Par 5 has occurred numerous times. The longest on record is by Michael Crean getting it on a 517 yard 9th hole. The hole is a severe dogleg and he was able to cut the corner. So it was much shorter than 517 yards.

According to Golf World Shaun Lynch hit a par 5 hole-in-one with a 3 Iron! The 496 yard horseshoe par 5 had a downslope which carried the ball all the way to the cup.

Odds of Getting an Ace

A Tour Player: 1 in 3756
A low-handicap player: 1 in 5000
An Average Player: 1 in 12,750
2 Aces in 1 round: 1 in 67 Million

Most Aces in a Round

Dr. Joseph Boydstone recorded 3 aces in a single round. The odds are 1 in 4,270,918,224.

Longest Distance for a Hole-In-One

On February 13th, 2007, Bret Melson blasted a 448 yard drive to get a hole-in-one at the Ko'olau Golf Club in Hawaii. He beat out the previous record by 1 yard held by Robert Mitera.

The Next Tiger

Now 14 year older Jackson Rue is one of the best young players. At 8 years-old he had 5 holes-in-one. What did you do by the time you were 8?

Tiger Woods' Aces

Tiger has 18 hole in ones. 7 have been in competition, and 2 on PGA tour events. He got his first hole in one at age 6.

Most Holes-In-One

Norman Manley has 59 holes-in-one. He also scored 2 holes-in-one on 2 successive par-4s at Del Valley CC. It is the first and only time this feat has been accomplished.

How can the longest hole-in-one be 448 yards, when you talk about several holes-in-one on par 5's, including one of 517 yards?? Get your facts straight!

Weekend Duffer: 448 yards is the "longest distance" (ie the distance from the tee-box to the hole). When a dog-leg is cut, the distance is shorter.

It could only have been a proper duffer not to understand the facts as laid out by your good self. I wonder how long it will be before he comes back and apologises for his ungracious remark at the end? I won't be holding my breath.

The hole could have been 517 yards but he only hit the ball 290 or so. Golf holes do not always count straight to the hole. The measure the holes on how they were intended to be played.

Shank your right, the reason the longest hole in one is 448 yards and not 517 yards is because the 448 yards was a straight shot while the 517 wasn't.

Whoever wrote this list needs to learn the basics of the English language. The plural of hole-in-one is holes-in-one, NOT hole-in-ones!

I'm wondering what the record average length for competition holes-in-one is? I've had 2 competition holes-in-one. The first was on a 215 yard par 3 the second on a 243 yard par 3 - average being 229 yards. Obviously from your example of the 448 yard hole-in-one his average is better, but if he's had 3 others @ 150 yards his average would be worse than mine! Clutching at straws. Any comments.

i heard that Sam Snead made a whole in one with every club. any truth to it?

Wow coley! you seem to be so impressed with your ability to do something dumb and get lucky that the the rest of us don't even need to care. Guess that's what we'll do then. Oh, and "seen" it? really?
